LCF/DAMU Performance Project

A collaborative project between five BA CTEMUPA students, and five MA students from the DAMU Theatre Academy, Prague.

Creating costume objects for a pilot dance-based show in preparation for a performance at Scenofest at the prestigious Prague Quadrennial, June 2007.
The performance was loosely based on Benjamin Britten’s opera of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Karel & Josef Capek’s The Insect Play, and devised by the students and associated tutors.
Drawing the two different cultures and societies together to the allure of the forest, the project encouraged participating students to use each other’s creativity and imagination to capture the essence of all who inhabit the forest.

The project profile displays developmental images for the malicious character of the Parasite (or Lumek), which was created with a built-in constructional transformation, from elusive human to savage insect, however the transition was not used in the final performance.

Production staged in the DAMU theatre, Divadlo DISK, Prague, on 12th April 2006, and as part of Scenofest at the Prague Quadrennial in June 2007.
